Trekking Route
The Annapurna Circuit Tilicho Lake Trek of 10 days starts with a bus drive from Kathmandu (1360 m) to Besisahar and then to Chame (2600 m), on the first day, which covers the road pathway only, whereas the walking trail begins from the 2nd day towards Manang. The first acclimatization day is set here at the Manang (3519 m), which leads you to the side trip to Braga Monastery, an ancient spiritual site, older than 600 years, Gangapurna Lake, or Ice Lake.
Then, the trail proceeds to Khangsar (3756 m) and Tilicho Base Camp at 4152 meters and attains one of the highest altitude lakes in the world, Tilicho Lake, perched at an elevation of 4919 meters. While covering the route upto the blue turqouise oases, the subtropical forests gradually transition into a thin pine forest, rugged, patterned terrains, yak pastures, along with changing landscapes, and touch the glacial alpine zone, where you might encounter varied wildlife as well.
After visiting the lake of Tilicho, the trail takes a descent to the base camp and rejoins the trail of the Annapurna Circuit from Siri Kharka (4060 m), Yak Kharka (4060 m), and Thorung High Camp (4900 meters), on three consecutive days. The navigation route gets more isolated, steep, rough, rugged, rocky, with continuous ascent and remote with thin settlement in the tea house area, so make a strong mindset, and set a firm mental and physical persistence, enjoying the accompaniment of several mountain views of Annapurna I, II, IV, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Nilgiri, Fishtail, Lamjung Himal, Hiunchuli, Tilicho Peak, Tukuche Peak, and several others, throughout the trailhead.
On the 9th day, the trail finally crosses the top of the challenging Thorong La Pass, with the breathtaking sunrise vista of gigantic peaks, landscapes, and glaciers, and takes a downhill walk to Muktinath Temple (3710 meters) on this very day. It is the longest walking hour, as the journey lasts for 9 hours, covering a distance of 14 to 15 kilometers. The 10-day trekking route ends with a flight to Pokhara from Jomsom, where from Pokhara we can either take a bus ride to Kathmandu on this day, or get back to the next day, as your time proceeds, concluding the adventure, with once-in-a-lifetime memories, and exploring one of the most remote and scenic isolated trails in the Himalayas.
