The Annapurna Circuit with Annapurna Base Camp Trekking is one of the most sought-after daring combos in the Himalayas. It is a cultural and mountainous adventure that circumnavigates the world's 10th-tallest peak, Annapurna I (8091 m), and attains the foothill, with an expansive outlook to the giants. If you are seeking something wild, classic, and experience-rich Tibetan cultures, and achieve new heights, then this combined trekking route to the  Annapurna Circuit and Annapurna Base Camp is perfect for you.

The trailhead represents the unparalleled beauty of the Himalayas, showing panoramic views of mountains touching the great heights to the sky exceeding 6000 meters and 8000 meters, including the 7th and 10th tallest peaks, Annapurna I (8091 meters) and Dhaulagiri range (8167 meters).

The trek offers sweeping views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Gangapurna, Nilgiri, Hiunchuli and Lamjung Himal, extending to Tilicho (7,134 m) and Tukuche (6,940 m). It starts in rhododendron, pine and oak forests, crosses rivers, waterfalls and suspension bridges, passes terraced fields with grazing yaks, then climbs into rugged highlands and alpine valleys that reveal all six climatic zones of the Annapurna region.

This itinerary follows a gradual ascent, with a full acclimatisation day in Manang and side trips to Gangapurna Lake and Ice Lake before crossing the pass, helping to maximise both safety and comfort. It first covers the initial half of the classic Annapurna Circuit, then descends from the world’s highest trekking pass, Thorong La, into the Mustang region via the Kali Gandaki Valley, with a visit to the sacred Muktinath Temple at 3,710 meters.

After a drive to Tatopani, the route reaches the famous Poon Hill viewpoint (3,210 m) and links with the Annapurna Base Camp trail. The path continues through Chhomrong, Bamboo and Dovan, then climbs toward Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,500 m) and finally Annapurna Base Camp (4,173 m), framed by sweeping Annapurna and Dhaulagiri panoramas, the highlight of our 18‑day odyssey.

What Makes This Annapurna Circuit and Base Camp Trek Unique?

This combined trek is an ideal Himalayan adventure for trekkers who want to experience the very best of the Annapurna region in a single journey. It blends thrilling high‑pass crossing with diverse landscapes, traditional villages, rich Himalayan flora and fauna, and Tibetan Buddhist-influenced culture. This combined route is increasingly popular among adventure seekers aiming to stand at the foot of an iconic 8,000 m peak and on top of one of the world’s highest trekking passes.

Rich biodiversity in the Annapurna Conservation Area

This trek runs through the Annapurna Conservation Area, Nepal’s largest protected region, home to over a thousand plant species, hundreds of bird species, and several rare mammals and reptiles. Along the way, you walk through lush rhododendron forests alive with birdsong, with the chance to spot langur monkeys, Himalayan tahr, and, if you are very lucky, the elusive red panda. Higher up, the landscape opens into alpine meadows and rocky slopes where snow leopards, Himalayan blue poppies, and other high‑altitude flowers can sometimes be seen.

Meaningful acclimatisation in Manang

Your acclimatisation stop in Manang (around 3,500 m) is one of the cultural highlights of the Annapurna Circuit. Once an important trade point on the Nepal-Tibet route, Manang still reflects strong Tibetan influence in its monasteries, architecture, traditional dress, and festivals. Here you can visit ancient sites such as Braga Monastery and local meditation caves, while enjoying dramatic views of Annapurna I, II, South, Tilicho Peak, and Hiunchuli.

A side hike to Gangapurna Lake (3-4 hours) offers superb panoramas of Pisang Peak, Chulu peaks, Tilicho, and Annapurna, often mirrored on the turquoise water. If you still have some energy, an optional hike to Ice Lake provides extra acclimatisation and even wider mountain vistas.

Crossing Thorong La Pass (5,416 m)

The high point of this journey is Thorong La Pass, one of the highest trekking passes in the world at 5,416 m. The day begins around 4 a.m. with a long, steady ascent on rugged, often icy terrain, and reaching the pass is a true personal milestone after days of preparation. At the top, you are rewarded with sweeping views of Katung Kang, Yakwa Kang, the barren Mustang landscapes, and the Kali Gandaki valley, all framed by prayer flags and the distant Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.

Sacred stop at Muktinath

After crossing the pass, the trail drops toward the Mustang side and the sacred temple complex of Muktinath. This important pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists draws thousands of visitors each year, who come to bathe in the 108 stone water spouts, visit natural eternal flame shrines, and seek blessings from shrines dedicated to Lord Vishnu and other deities. The area also offers impressive views down the Kali Gandaki gorge, often cited as one of the world’s deepest river gorges.

Sunrise from iconic Poon Hill

Poon Hill (around 3,210 m) is one of Nepal’s most famous sunrise viewpoints, and a major highlight of your combined itinerary. From the hilltop, you can watch the first light hit Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and a wide sweep of other Himalayan peaks, turning them golden and pink as you enjoy a hot drink in the crisp morning air. Before and after the viewpoint, you pass through Ghorepani and nearby villages inhabited by Gurung, Magar, and other ethnic groups, where you can experience local hospitality, traditional homes, and village life.

At the foot of Annapurna I

The journey culminates at Annapurna Base Camp (around 4,130-4,170 m), set in a natural amphitheatre surrounded by towering peaks. From here you stand face-to-face with Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and other giants, with glaciers and icefalls cascading down toward the sanctuary. An overnight stay at ABC lets you soak in the 360‑degree panorama in both evening light and sunrise, a truly unforgettable Himalayan experience.

Can a beginner do the Annapurna Circuit with the Annapurna Base Camp Trekking?

If you are a complete first‑time trekker with no high‑altitude experience, this combined Annapurna Circuit and Annapurna Base Camp trek is generally not recommended as your very first Himalayan trek. It is a physically demanding journey, with 5–7 hours of hiking per day, covering roughly 8–14 km on diverse terrain.

The full itinerary usually takes 18–21 days, which means over two weeks on remote mountain trails. For some beginners, this long commitment in isolated areas can feel mentally and physically exhausting, while others may actually enjoy the peaceful escape, warm teahouse hospitality, and ever‑changing Himalayan scenery.

In terms of difficulty, this merged route is considered strenuous. You will pass through forests, rocky sections, steep ascents and descents, and high mountain passes that test your endurance and stamina. Good basic fitness is essential if you want to enjoy the trek rather than struggle through it.

You will also reach two major high points: Thorong La Pass and Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m), with steady daily altitude gain. This naturally increases the risk of altitude sickness, but the chance of severe AMS is reduced by a gradual ascent profile, 300–500 m elevation gain per day, and built‑in acclimatisation days. With proper pacing and precautions, both fit beginners and experienced hikers can complete it safely.

Even if you are new to multi‑day trekking, you can still attempt this adventure with serious preparation: several weeks of cardiovascular training, strength workouts, and practice hikes carrying a daypack. It is also important to research expected difficulties, weather, terrain, and logistics, so you know what you are signing up for. Throughout the journey, our experienced, licensed, medically trained trekking guide will support you 24/7, helping with safe navigation, acclimatisation, and any medical concerns on the trail.

After reaching Besisahar, we will take another jeep on a shared basis, from where the bumpy road (off-road drive) begins. Winding through some beautiful glimpses of the countryside and agricultural farms, where the villagers are engaging in harvesting or planting the crops, we will finally reach Dharapani, where we'll rest our heads for the night.

Max Altitude: 1860 m/6246 ft Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and DinnerAccommodation: Tea houseDuration: 7-8 hours

Leaving the settlement of Dharapani behind, the trekking trail finally begins walking along Dudh Khola River, entering the dense forested area, such as pine and oak, beautifully thriving en route. While the landscape starts to open up, we even get to catch a glimpse of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal, along with some local settlements featuring hamlet roofs and ancient-style, block-stone architecture, decorated with colorful Buddhist Tibetan prayer flags. After passing through the villages of Bagarchhap, Danaque, and Timing, with a cross-over of several villages, we will arrive at Chame, where we'll be settling in for the overnight

After having breakfast, soon after, we will soon make our way toward Upper Pisang, entering the woodland area with the blooming rhododendrons, small bridges, small water streams, cascading waterfalls, and an open view of the snow-capped peaks. Following the pathway, with the astonishing view of Annapurna II, and the Tibetan Buddhism settlements along the way, as we pass through mani walls, chortens, red shrines, and some prayer wheels, with the settlements of Bhartang, Talekhu, and others. While traversing these villages, we even get to see locals meditating with beads in their hands, praying, and women engaging in animal husbandry and agricultural farming. With such diversity of the Tibetan lifestyle highly influenced by Buddhist spirituality, the views of Kuntu Danda become our reward after reaching Pisang, our destination for today.

After having our breakfast, the trail winds off, passing through the upper trails of Ngawal via Gheru, from where the astonishing surroundings of Annapurna I, II, III, Pisang Peak, and Gangapurna Himal, along with the Manang valley and Tilicho Peak, become more prominent. Navigating past the Humde airstrip, we will be treated to the captivating Himalayan peaks such as Lamjung Himal, and glimpses of Tibetan Buddhism settlements marking the way, with small whitewashed chortens, mani walls, and monasteries, with a cross over the Marshyangdi River, that takes us to Mungji, the last village of Manang.

Max Altitude: 3540 m/11614ft Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and DinnerAccommodation: Tea houseDuration: 6-7 hoursDistance: 15 km

Today marks our first acclimatisation day, as we cross over to higher elevation above 4000 meters. On the following days, this rest, or you can say excursion day, is crucial to adapt to the rising altitude. As Manang is a notable spot on the trekking trail, there are many short hikes and uphill walks that we can undertake to make the best out of the rest day, and also gain some altitude.

We've got the best 2 options out of all: either we take a side trip to Gangapurna Lake or Ice Lake. While Gangapurna Lake shows the most prominent views of the legendary Himalayan range, like Annapurna IV, II, III, with the reflection of such mountains, while gazing at the turquoise lake. Another option stands out to be Ice Lake, which is located at 4600 meters, also regarded as Kicho Tal, rewarding with the unmatched views in its panoramic form of Gangapurna Himal, Annapurna II, Annapurna III, and South.

After returning from the iconic spots, we can take a good excursion of the Manang village with a sunset view over the Annapurna massif, and learn about the in-depth culture of the valley, and some historical trading knowledge as well, from locals. If the itinerary fits in with some festivals like Buddha Jayanti or Tibetan Lhosar, then expect to get some traditional ways of celebration, mask dances, and prayers of the monks in the village on this very day.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and DinnerAccommodation: Tea house

Today, the trail slowly takes a gradual ascent toward Yak Kharka, with glimpses of Annapurna II, IV, III, and Gangapurna Himal, and we will reach a tiny village called Tenzi, where we get to see Blue sheep (chyangra), yaks, and locals engaging in some kind of traditional practices in farms and houses, showing the traditional lifestyle of locals. Persisting in our journey, we pass another notable settlement called Gunsang at an elevation of 3960 meters, and then, to Khopra, where we will rest a bit and have our lunch, as from here the trailhead is more steep and tends to be a frequent uphill walk. While we make our way to Yak Kharka, the thin village at 4050 meters, a former yak herder camp, the prominent view of Thorong Peak, Chulu West, and Annapurna Range welcomes us with its enchanting view.

While we settle in at such a high altitude above sea level, beyond 4000 meters, make sure to stay warm and cozy, and ensure to have some ginger soup, and consider checking pulse rate through an oximeter, to keep a good track of health.

Max Altitude: 4050 m/13287 ft Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and DinnerAccommodation: Tea houseDuration: 4-5 hoursDistance: 11.6 km

Leaving Yak Kharka behind, today, we will set off toward Thorung Phedi, which makes us one step closer to the Thorung La Phedi. As we ascend to higher elevation with more than 700 meters of altitude gain, we will ensure that we start our journey approximately. 7 AM to avoid the high winds, which start at midday. The trekking route navigates through some of the strenuous sections, with many gravel routes and landslide-prone areas, so walk along with the navigation of the trekking guide. After 3 hours of hiking, the trail leads us to Thorong Phedi, where we will rest for a while for lunch. After persisting in our journey for another 1 hour, we will finally reach Thorong High Camp at an elevation of 4880 meters, where we will settle in for tonight before summiting the world's highest pass tomorrow.

Max Altitude: 4880 m/16012 ft Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and DinnerAccommodation: Tea houseDuration: 5 hoursDistance: 9.2 km

The day has finally arrived, which we have all been waiting for, as today, we will finally set our footprints on the world's highest pass - Thorong La Pass at 5416 meters. Setting off on our journey at 4 AM, with a head torch and excitement in our eyes, the trekking route leads us through some steep ridges and the magnificent beauty of the Himalayas. After 4-5 hours of hiking, with a few minutes of an uphill walk, we will finally reach the highest pass of Thorong La, marked with the colorful Buddhist prayer flags, flapping in the high winds. After reaching the pinnacle of the high pass, the diverse landscape views surrounding us amuse us, where from the Mustang side, the brown rugged Tibetan plateau can be seen; and the snow-covered mountains blend with the thrilling beauty, along with the panoramic 360-degree views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range.

Staying here for a bit, celebrating the moment of achievement and marking the new height on our check bucket list, and getting some of the best pictures with your beloved country flag, we will go for a downhill walk to Muktinath, touching the Mustang region route, following the Kali Gandaki valley. We will pay a visit to the Muktinath Temple, famous for 108 taps and natural gas (agni), with a huge Lord Buddha statue and some small temples; the temple itself is one of the pilgrimage sites for Hinduism and Buddhist spirituality. With an insight into the unique Hindu culture, we will head to our hotel near Muktinath and stay here overnight, enjoying the chill weather of the Mustang region.

Max Altitude: 5416 m/17762 ft Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and DinnerAccommodation: Tea houseDuration: 7-8 hoursDistance: 15.9 km

After having breakfast early in the morning, we will take a jeep drive toward Tatopani, following the captivating pathway, with the thriving woodland, green hills, transformed from the rugged terrain, and apple orchards of the Mustang territory. The drive lasts for 4 to 5 hours, during which we can feel the elevation change as well, as the elevation drops by more than 2000 meters; hence, the rhododendron blooming scenery from far away, while entering the Tatopani (Hot water), with another insight of the Annapurna range, will, surprisingly, captivate us. Tatopani is our first stopping point after touching the route to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC), where we can witness a huge crowd of hikers taking a dip into a hot spring after long hours of journey or before ascending higher, to relax the muscles.

Max Altitude: 1,190m/3,904ft Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and DinnerAccommodation: Tea houseDuration: 5 hoursDistance: 42.6 km

Passing through the villages of Banthantu, Nangethanti, Phalate, and Chitre, we get to see the lifestyle of diverse communities such as Gurung, Magar, Rai, and other communities, who were ex-British Gurkha troops. After a short uphill walk, we'll reach Ghorepani, also known as Horse Water, as back in ancient days, this village used to be the resting point for trading between Nepal and the Tibet border for horses and merchants. The day concludes with gazing at the alluring views of Dhaulagiri, Hiunchuli, and also the first prominent view of Mt. Fishtail (Machhapuchhare), in Ghorepani village, enjoying the delicious Gurung local foods, and the warm hospitality of locals as well.

Essential Information

Best Time

For the Annapurna Circuit with Base Camp Trek, the ideal seasons are Spring (mid-March to late May) and Autumn (September to November). As it is a high-altitude trek, this particular time is highly recommended due to clear weather and mild temperatures, making the hike smooth. The chances of rain and snowfall in both the timeframe is low, entailing the terrains remaining dry and easy to pass through. The mountain views and landscapes are clear with no fogginess or hindrance, whereas the moderate humidity keeps you engaged throughout without tiring or draining the hikers.

During Spring, the whole green forests get stunningly covered with colorful floras, including red rhododendrons, Nepal's national flower. It is the season that arrives after the conclusion of winter, the air is fresh, the routes are dry, and the snow gets washed away completely, as soon as early March hits. The day sunlight lasts typically for longer hours, where the trekkers get to enjoy the trailhead, at their own pace, without having to worry about early darkness.

Compared to any other season, Autumn experiences a heavy inflow of visitors to the Himalayas. As the major festivals of Nepal, Dashain and Tihar fall in between, it attracts large number of explorers both locally and internationally. Besides, the monsoon drifts away, leaving all the major possibilities of precipitation, ensuring a crystal clear expansive view of mountains with the surrounding golden landscapes. Autumn can be a perfect choice for individuals who seek rich cultural experiences and unique insights into the pristine topography.

Annapurna Circuit with Base Camp Trek Difficulty

The Annapurna Circuit with Annapurna Base Camp Trekking is a strenuous trek designed for experienced trekkers. Lasting for 18 days, with a daily hiking pace of 5 to 7 hours, and increasing altitude, one must be in good fitness level and engage in prior preparations to do this trip.

The main challenge is less about the walking hours and more about the constantly changing terrain that tests your limits daily. At times, the trail follows easy, flat sections before suddenly turning into steep, rugged paths with frequent ascents and descents, which can be particularly tough for beginners. On the day you cross Thorong La Pass, the highest point of the trip, you must walk for around 10 hours on icy, uphill terrain, which can feel both physically and mentally demanding.

Despite this, the route does not involve technical climbing sections or require mountaineering skills, and it is achievable with proper preparation and the support of an experienced trekking guide. In contrast, the Annapurna Base Camp section is relatively gentler and more gradual, allowing your muscles to recover a bit and offering a more relaxed hiking experience compared to the high pass days.

Accommodation

A total of 17 nights ' accommodation is included in our Annapurna Circuit Trek with Annapurna Base Camp trek package, where the lodges and tea houses are well-maintained and hygienic enough to settle in. The bedding configuration will be basically on a sharing basis, at the upper trailheads; hence, you must share your room with one of your fellow partners in your group.

If you are trekking solo, then a private room will be provided, ensuring comfort and safety at the same time. Also, take note that, while the lower routes might have private washrooms, at the higher elevation, the bathrooms are generally on the sharing basis in an eastern manner. Each room has cosy bedrooms, pillows, and comfortable blankets, with clean bedding for a comfortable goodnight sleep.

Also, take note that electric sockets and wifi availability aren't available in the room; you must head to the dining area for charging and internet, with an additional cost of $ 3 - $ 5 depending on the hourly basis. On the other hand, other amenities are available in every tea house, such as laundry, hot showers; however, additional cost must be paid for such facilities, as basic requirements become luxury at high elevations and remote areas within the Annapurna region.

Food

Throughout the trip, the standard meals, including Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner, will be provided, with a wide range of options, from asian and local cuisine to Western foods, as it is the famous trailhead of the Himalayas. For breakfast, you can find Tibetan local meals, like Tibetan bread served with egg and curry with a cup of tea or coffee, bread with either jam or butter, oat meals, porridge, muesli, and seasonal dry fruits.

Whereas, for lunch and dinner, you can find similar options, such as the ultimate Dal Bhat served with veg or non-veg curry, lentil soup, pickle, rice, and spinach, which can be refilled as much as you can, that consists of all the nutrients, and keeps you energised for a 5 to 6-hour long-duration hike. Other options like pizza, spring rolls, chowmein, pasta, thenduk, ramen, noodle soups, momo (dumplings) can be found in every tea house.

The meals are served in the dining area with heating areas to keep you cosy and warm, where you can interact, along with keen-minded hikers like you. The menu will be provided to you, which you can look over and order accordingly. Also, take note that if you are allergic to some food items, then inform us beforehand. Veg, non-veg, and vegan options are available in every tea house, so mention your dietary preference to either the trekking guide or directly to the locals.

For the beverage option, from cold drinks, like energy drinks, Coke, Fantas, and hot beverages such as tea, coffee, and hot water are available throughout the trip. Use a water purification tablet to purify the drinking water, or buy bottled water if you are not comfortable with regular tap water, which costs somewhere between $ 0.3 to 0.8 $ per bottled water.

Transportation

For the trek to the Annapurna Circuit and Annapurna Base Camp, the package itself covers the transportation facilities to reach and return from the trekking trail; you do not have to pay extra for the vehicle cost. To start the journey, we will take a regular 6-7 hour bus ride to Besisahar, from Gongabu (Balaju), just a few kilometres away from Thamel, Kathmandu, where the trekking guide will come to pick you up at the hotel. Then, after reaching Besisahar, we will take a shared jeep to Dharapani, the starting point of the walking trail.

After descending from Thorung La Pass and reaching Muktinath, we'll take a sharing jeep drive to Tatopani, entering the regular route to Annapurna Base Camp, from where the foot trail starts, and end with a sharing jeep drive from Jhinu Danda to Pokhara. To return to Kathmandu, we will take a luxury tourist bus from Kathmandu, with a 7 to 8-hour drive.

The transportation used on this trip is basically on a sharing basis, via jeep and bus ride, and comfortable for a long journey; however, if you want to upgrade the transportation to private ones, then you can add extra cost, and upgrade the package.

Travel Insurance

Even though this Annapurna Circuit and Base Camp Trek is safe to undertake, travel insurance is compulsorily required as it is a high-altitude trek that crosses over 3000 meters per day, and reaches the 5416 meters at the highest elevation. Access to medical emergencies is difficult, with only a few health services and medical assistance, and if any unfortunate critical condition like altitude sickness occurs (just in case), then the only option is helicopter evacuation, so consider the most important thing on your itinerary, which is heli evacuation over 4000 meters.

Besides, while attaining the insurance, make sure to check thoroughly, and make sure that it includes medical bills, injuries, theft, luggage lost, and trip delay or cancellation at the same time. Having a good policy saves thousands of dollars, and ensures that you hike with a free mind, rather than worrying about what might happen in the future that could ruin the trip due to overthinking. Hence, the insurance for this trek remains mandatory for safety purposes. Also, after the booking is made, make sure to send us a photocopy of your insurance policy as well, if you have acquired one.

Permits for Annapurna Circuit and Annapurna Base Camp Trek

To do this combined trek, two permits are required: firstly, the ACAP, and secondly, the TIMS Card (Trekkers Information Management System Card), where the permits can be obtained either from Pokhara or Kathmandu. After your bookings are made, the required permits will be arranged by us, and they are included in our costing; hence, additional cost is not required.

The cost of the ACAP permit depends on your nationality, whereas the cost of the TIMS Card remains the same for everyone, individuals, no matter their nationality they carry, and it remains free for children below 10 years old.

  • Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP cost): NPR 3000 (USD 28 per head) for foreigners and USD 8 (NPR 1000) per head for SAARC nationalities
  • Trekkers Information Management System Card (TIMS Card fee): NPR 2000 (USD 18 per head)

Travel Tips

  • The Wi Fi or Internet accessibility is available throughout the journey, in every tea house, at the dining area; however, extra money is required, charged by the tea house, especially at the higher elevations, from somewhere between $ 2 to $ 3.
  • Electric sockets aren't available in rooms, in many sections, and only charging can be done in the dining area, where you will be charged on an hourly basis.
  • The charging area becomes highly packed, which might be frustrating for you to wait in a queue to recharge your gadgets, so consider bringing 1-2 power banks, so in an emergency, you can power up phones and connect back to your love life.
  • Buy an NTC SIM card while being in Kathmandu, for direct call, and internet usage as well, where you can get a 4G data pack, by paying NPR 120/- (USD 8) that lasts for a week.
  • Consider carrying cash, and do the money exchange in any ATMS, or currency exchange spots in Thamel or the International Airport, even though debit and credit cards might work in some places, most places do not accept the cards. If you have Nepali Rupees, USD (Dollars), Euros, or Indian Currency, then you are good to go. Estimate daily personal expenses, for beverages, tipping, laundry, showers, and carry the cash accordingly.
  • For the gears and essentials, you can either buy or rent them in Thamel, Kathmandu, whereas we will provide you with some of the essentials like a duffle bag, a sleeping bag (must be returned), a company T-shirt, and a cap; hence, excluding these, you can buy others. If you want any kind of assistance, then we will guide you.
  •  A porter can carry a maximum of 22 kgs of the weight limit, where the weights can be shared between two trekkers. As this package does not include a porter, you must pay an additional cost for the porter service.
  • If you are happy and satisfied with our crew members, then it is highly suggested to tip them, appreciating their hard work to make your trip a successful journey.
FAQs

When merged into one epic adventure, this combo becomes significantly more demanding than either trek alone. While ABC suits families and beginners, and AC challenges fit hikers, combining them doubles the physical endurance, mental stamina, and preparation required compared to tackling each route separately.

To do this trek, one must have a basic level of physical fitness, to proceed the hike for 5-7 hours daily, that too via covering remote, isolated trailheads, with multiple uphill and downhill walks, which demands a strong physique to cover long distance trail, with an increasing altitude. Ensure to engage in prior exercises (training), especially through cardiovascular exercises, such as running, walking at treadmill (incline stair walk), cycling, for 3 to 4 months, if you have time, if not, then 1 month of proper training is more than enough as well. Along with cardio, also do the strength training workouts + leg strength exercises, including leg press, squats, staircase walks, carrying an 8 to 10 kgs bagpack, lunges, so that, trailing along hours of remote terrains, won't be physically daunting for you.

The highest elevation that this trekking trail leads, marks to is 5416 meters (Thorong La Pass), and other vantage points of Poon Hill (3210 meters), and Annapurna Sanctuary (base camp at 4130 meters).

As this adventure takes you to the highest altitude above 5000 meters, the risk of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) is significantly high if the preventive measures are not followed, from the beginning to the end. Firstly, make sure that you take an ascent, and proceed further on the trail without speeding up the itinerary, and go along with the planned itinerary, as it is crafted with a daily elevation gain of 300-500 meters per day, with an acclimatization day set in between, to adapt to the increasing high altitude.

Secondly, avoid smoking, drinking alcohol, smoking vapes or cigarettes; instead, fuel your body with nutritious, fulfilling meals, and drink 4-5 litres of water. Thirdly, take Diamox with the doctor's precautions, an oximeter, checking the pulse rate at each stopping point. In case of any symptoms of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness), then inform the guide immediately, and take the guide's instructions, as the guides are medically trained, experienced, and equipped.

While combining both treks, the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek with Annapurna Circuit, it usually takes somewhere between 18 and 27 days, depending on how your trip has been customized, routes, and itinerary. However, our itinerary is 18 days long, which visits every corner of the trailhead, with a gradual pace, and acclimatization days, ensuring that even those with limited time can opt for this trek, with ease, and smoothly. Meanwhile, if you want to make the trek longer by combining Tilicho Lake or any popular spots within the Annapurna region, then it will surely be done, on your time, preference, and budget. Feel free to contact us.

Yes, this Annapurna Base Camp and Thorong La Pass itinerary can surely be customized as you prefer, matching your time duration, trekking routes, and cost, however, we do not recommend, shortening this trip lesser than 18 days, as speeding up the pace, with no acclimatization days, increases the possibility of disruption of the trip, due to physical fatigueness, altitude sickness and mental pressure.

Yes, unlike other restricted trailheads that demand a trekking partner, compulsorily, this combined trek to the Annapurna Circuit with Annapurna Base Camp can surely be done solo. However, requires a licensed, experienced guide to assist you throughout the journey, for safe navigation, emergency medical services, and settle in the best logistics along the trekking trail, and also, let you hike with an easy mind without any obligation.

No, trekking the Annapurna Circuit with ABC shall not proceed without hiring an experienced licensed guide, as there are many risky sections, such as landslide-prone areas, avalanches, without any well-marked signs along the route. At the same time, as the accessibility to the medical emergency assistance is low, at high elevations after crossing 4000 meters, where the only option is helicopter evacuation, medically equipped guides ensure your safety, as a first-hand medical emergency service, along with a proper briefing on the nature, to let you connect with the pristine landmark in depth.

During the Annapurna Circuit and Base Camp Trek, you will be assisted by an experienced licensed guide, fluent in English, and registered with NMA (Nepal Mountaineering Association), who has led more than hundreds of trekkers along the trail for 10 to 12 years. At the same time, they will be medically equipped, and they will be your first-hand assistance, if any uncertain situations occur, in such remote trails, where there is zero accessibility to hospitals except for helicopter evacuation.

This Annapurna Circuit with Annapurna Base Camp Trek for 18 days, cost starts from USD 799 to USD 1150 per head, which covers every requirement for the trip, from the basic logistics like meals, accommodations, transportations, guides, and permits. The pricing highly depends on several factors, including the number of hikers in your group; the more trekkers, the group, the price gets minimized accordingly.
