You might have seen many other lovely people wearing gurung dress attire and jewels in TikTok videos, or on any other sites like YouTube. Well, that's the Ghandruk village, where the day concludes with the best sunset views over the Annapurna Range on the very 1st day.

The second day begins with a morning hike towards Sinuwa (2360 m), along the roaring Khomrong Khola, entering the woodlands fully adorned with the blooming pink and red rhododendrons, if it's spring, whereas if it's autumn, then expect the crusty golden brown leaves falling beautifully. In between the trekking route passes by several other notable villages like Chhomrong, after crossing Chhomrong Khola, the trail goes an uphill, steep walk to Sinuwa - our destination for the day. The trail is a bit strenuous today; however, the first prominent views of Annapurna I, South, and Hiunchuli keep us engaged throughout the journey.

On the next day, the journey marks 5-6 hours of hiking towards Deurali (3230 m) from Sinuwa, through several notable settlements of gurung and Magar communities, as we will traverse Upper Sinuwa, Bamboo, Dovan, and Himalaya, the trail transforms from a forested area to a rugged landscape and open meadows, ending the colorful route and entering more rocky sections. Before attaining Deurali, we will pay a visit to the famous Hinku Cave - formed in the shape of a rock formation, and serves as a popular stop point en route.

The fourth day stands out to be the most highlighted day of this trek, as we'll lead to the lap of the world's tenth highest of, Mt. Annapurna - Annapurna Base Camp that stands at an elevation of 4130 meters, today, the day might be a bit challenging as we pass by glacial and some slippery pathways as well, so brace yourself and geared up. Then, soon after reaching Annapurna Sanctuary, the 360 views of panoramic views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna massifs become our reward after such a long expedition.

The morning starts with a breathtaking sunrise view over the mountains, at the Annapurna Base Camp (4130 meters), with a cup of tea, immersing in the golden hues of the highlands over iconic peaks. Soon after, having breakfast, we will take a downhill walk following the same route, including Deurali, Himalaya, MBC, and finally reach Bamboo (2360 m), and spend an overnight here, for the last day here in the Annapurna trail, with the impressive view of Singu Chuli.

On the final day, the hike begins with a descent to Jhinu Danda - also known as natural hot springs, one of the popular spots in the Himalayas, famous for relaxing and taking a dip before and after the expedition, said to relax muscles and also cure skin diseases. What is the Best Time for the trek to Annapurna Base Camp via Ghandruk?

Despite any beginning point or route, the ideal time for the Annapurna Base Camp Ghandruk Trek from Pokhara is the same, which is during Spring (mid-March to late May) and Autumn, just like any Himalayan adventure. However, it is also considered an all-year-round trek by many, as every season rewards visitors with something distinct, which is worth undertaking; it's all about one's personal choices and feasibility, which season they are willing to opt for.

While winter demonstrates the snowy, frosty peaks and trails covered with snow, it comes with major drawbacks, as the route might become too slippery and strenuous to proceed further, due to heavy precipitation, but if you are an experienced hiker, then you can easily complete this ABC Trek from Pokhara in winter as well. For several reasons, we highly recommend the following seasons for the 6-day Annapurna Base Camp Trekking: one remains for safety, and another, of course! The great views, let's take a deep dive into what each ideal peak seasons unfold during the expedition:

Spring (March to May)

The spring season in the land of the Himalayas - Nepal, turns into heaven with the vibrant blooming flowers, and along the route, the whole region thrives in the vibrant color of rhododendrons and golden agricultural farms en route, hence making it one of the ideal seasons for this trek. Not only that, you can expect a chill hike in the mild temperature, as winter just says goodbye and leaves a spark of cool weather, the temperature usually ranges from 5 to 12 degrees Celsius on the lower trails, however, moving to the upper sections to the base camp, it falls to 5 to 0 degree celsius, hence, you can settle in at the tea houses being cozy at night time.

Autumn (September to November)

Autumn tends to be another peak time and an ideal season to meander throughout the Annapurna region, as this span of the idyllic year presents something distinct from any other months, as the main festivals - Dashain and Tihar fall in between September and October. Apart from that, as this season comes right after monsoon, the heavy rain days, the weather becomes clear, with almost zero chances of precipitation, delivering the widest range of the great Himalayas, including Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, in its best form, marking its place as one of the best times for the trip to ABC from Pokhara.

How hard is the Annapurna Base Camp Trek from Pokhara?

Even though the ABC Trek from Pokhara ascends at such a high elevation of 4163 meters, it is still considered an easy to moderately challenging trek in Nepal; however, it highly depends on one's physical endurance and mental positivity, as well, as that's what matters at high altitude expeditions. This 6-day Annapurna Base Camp Trek passes through several kinds of terrains, from fine pathways to dense forest, to rugged and steeply remote sections, and finally the slippery glacier valleys. You must have a basic level of physical fitness at least to cover such a route.

Besides, this trek also demands 5 to 6 hours with daily distance coverage of 10 to 12 kilometers; it might be strenuous for some who have never been on any treks before; however, compared to Everest Base Camp or any other expeditions, it remains easy and doable by beginners as well, with prior preparations beforehand. The only thing to highly consider is the high elevation gain, your body spots at such thin air of mountains, as ascending with low oxygen level can be fatiguing to some and can even lead to altitude sickness, if the preventive guidelines are not taken beforehand.

However, as our Annapurna Base Camp Trek from Pokhara itinerary is carefully tailored with the elevation gain of only 300 to 500 meters per day, without rushing things and ascending with a high level of panic, the risk of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) is bare minimum. Mostly, experienced hikers go all their level out and even try to commence this hike for 3-4 days, and later on leads to adverse situations, but that won't be case here, as keeping these things in mind, we've crafted this itinerary for 6 days, so you can safely ascend without any issue, making it a doable expedition without demanding age limits, and prior experiences.

How to be prepared for the trek to ABC from Pokhara?

This ABC Trek from Pokhara does require some preparations beforehand, prior to some days or even weeks, if you want a hassle-free journey, without any leg-trembling situations and mentally fatiguing conditions. Even though the Pokhara to Annapurna Base Camp Hike has merely hazardous conditions, as the trails are well maintained and placed with fine lodgings en route, having yourself fully prepared not only leads to a successful trip, but also makes the trek even more exciting and enjoyable.

The first and foremost essential thing to consider is making yourself fully ready physically, and making sure that you can venture out on this journey without any back pain and shaking your legs, after a full ascent and descent round off. For that, you can just engage in any cardiovascular exercises, like cycling, treadmill (running or walking with high incline), swimming, or weight training, like squats, lunges, and many more. However, if hitting the gym isn't your forte, then you can just stroll nearby parks or streets, completing 10,000 steps just to strengthen the leg muscles, or even just do home workouts or ace 100 ascents and descents via staircase.

Another thing to keep in mind is creating a positive mindset, setting an enthusiastic perspective toward the expedition, and being prepared for any uncertain weather conditions and climatic changes. Hence, expect the unexpected, along the trailhead throughout the 6-day Annapurna Base Camp Trek, and also, the main part is, someone who is new to the Himalayas might be unfamiliar with the tea houses and lodges available en route, so do proper research and only opt for the expedition. Above all, make sure that you acclimatize properly, and do not go overboard and stray from the itinerary planned; follow your pace with the assistance of the guide navigating through a safe route.

As we all know, the mountain areas are not a joke like a stroll around a park, but come with several unfortunate conditions; the best thing to do is to get a great deal of information about the trip insurance from your home country if possible. Do not miss out on including trip cancellation or delay, theft, and most importantly, helicopter evacuation over 2500 meters, as it is the only way possible for severe injuries like AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness). Hence, it is not a rapid route; instead, it takes a good acclimatization before going to higher elevations, adapting to the rising high altitude, and minimizing the risk of AMS, just make sure that you are physically fit, and follow the safety procedure (guidelines), from the start of the journey, rather, than, just blindly following the itinerary, and going with the flow, along the route.

To avoid such a situation, mild or severe symptoms, ensure the preventive measures such as hydrating yourself well with 3-4 Liters of water every day, avoid smoking, drinking alcohol beverages, smoking, instead, fuel your body with nutritious meals, and substitude too much coffee, with hot lemon water, ginger garlic soups and so on, to keep you warm and cozy. To do the trek to ABC from Pokhara, two permits are required for the expedition; no matter where the starting point is, the required permits remain the same.

First, permit tends to be Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP), which contributes highly to preserving the pristine environment and wildlife along with boasting economic of locals. Whereas, another remains a TIMS card- Trekker Information Management System required for any treks in Nepal, no matter what route you are opting for. After your booking is confirmed, we at Destination Himalaya Treks arrange all the paperwork and permits.

The key villages (local hamlets), that this trailhead, navigates through are Ghandruk, Chhomrong, Sinuwa, Jhinu Danda (hot spring), Deurali, and many other tea houses, in between, that passes, via terraced farms, forested area, river streams, bridges, water falls, etc, exploring the wonder beauty of the iconic Annapurna Conservation Area, where the mountains, accompany you in each stride.

The route basically unravels the distinct climatic zones of the territory, from forested areas, terraced farms, agricultural fields, rugged and remote trails, and then ascends to the alpine valleys, before attaining to the pinnacle, which makes the journey more than just reaching the destination, and unveils the unique insight of the mountain areas.

The charging accessibility along the trailhead, in every lodge/guest house/tea house, is available, only in the dining area, and not attached to the room, due to limited electricity resources at the higher altitude. Whereas, at the lower trails, you can find lodges, at main spots, such as Nayapul, Ghandruk, Chhomrong, with charging sockets in the room itself. We suggest you bring 1-2 power banks to quickly charge your gadgets, in case of emergency, as at the peak time, the tea houses get so crowded, where you have to wait for hours, just to charge your gadgets, thus, having a power bank is a lifesaver.

The WIFI accessibility is available in most of the tea houses, even at the Annapurna Base Camp's lodges, and the lower trails, like Ghandruk, Chhomrong, Jhinu Danda, which is only available at the dining area, and cannot be accessed in the room, as it has a limited electric source, run by solar charge. At the high elevation, the connectivity, is not so stable, and extra cost, will charge you, for WIFI from USD 2-3 per day, depending on the lodge, whereas, along the route, you can use local NTC or NCELL SIM Card, to buy 4G network connectivity (data), for internet or make a direct call.

The ideal months to trek along the Annapurna region, or any other himalayan trailhead, stand out to be September, October, and November, which fall under the autumn season, and March, April, and May, which fall under the season of Spring. During these particular ideal times, you can expect the weather and climatic conditions to be stable, and the temperature to be mild, with very low chances of precipitation (rainfall and snowfall), offering unhindered panoramic views of the mountains and landscapes.

While the months of Spring are widely popular, as the time of the blooming rhododendrons, pines, and green lush valleys, with longer hour sunny days, where hikers can explore, the nature and meander along for long hours, without having to worry about the early nights, and trail along in a chill way. Whereas, in autumn, the trailhead experiences the more crowded hikers, as the main festivals, Dashain and Tihar, falls in between, which captivates the trekkers, locally and internationally, unraveling the distinct perspective of the himalayas.

No, undertaking the trailhead at the major off-season time is not suggested for such a high altitude trail, where the weather and climate conditions change drastically, whereas, at such a high precipitation season, the situation just gets worse, being unstable and unpredictable. Due to the high level of cloud burst, the terrains, usually, remains muddy, slippery, and icy at upper section which makes the route challenging to navigate, and the worst, you can expect is, whether you could spot the clear views of mountains, making the trek, quite questinable, along with possible challenges, such as landslide, avalanches, floods, and so much more.

However, with proper preparations and training, the trek from Pokhara to Annapurna Sanctuary can be fascinating, with enjoyable snowcapped views, some thrilling challenges, boasting your energy, and distinct (unique) side of the himalayas.
