Detailed Overview:

Manaslu Round Trek is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that circulates the whole of Mt. Manaslu in one single journey, navigating through remote terrains, dense forests, ancient villages, high cliffs, cattle farms, and alpine valleys amid the highly towering iconic mountains showcasing six climatic zones of varied landscapes. Located at the heart of Gorkha District, this Manaslu Trek is one of the best treks in Nepal, although it was just introduced way back in 1992 A.D, this region has a few numbers of footprint/visitors as special permits are required to enter this Manaslu Conservation Area, due to which it remains same like 90's era where Himalayan flora and wildlife are still in their pristine condition.

This Manaslu Round Trekking is a perfect adventure for those who are looking forward to exploring the less crowded trails unlike Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Base Camp which are filled with modern infrastructure amenities. As this trek to Manaslu is a tea house trek you get to experience how Nubri, Sherpa, and Tsum people run their livelihood in such isolated places unbothered by the modern world. It is also highly popularized by the name "Manaslu Circuit Trek" giving a front-row ticket to reach the Manaslu Base Camp and immersing ourselves in the panorama views of Mt. Manaslu. The best part is! We offer this Manaslu Budget Trek with an affordable price range covering every highlighted corner of this region that can be completed within just 15 days.

Essential Information

How difficult is Manaslu Round Trekking?

Trekking to Manaslu is a moderate-level trek simply considering 3 major factors, firstly the long duration hike covering the distance of 14-22 km each day depending on the route, secondly ascending with the rise of high elevation and lastly, the trail over harsh landscapes, narrow and rugged sections making it fall under moderate trek in Nepal.

In total, the Manaslu Round Trekking covers a distance of approx. 178 meters with a daily hike of 5-7 hours each day. Sometimes, we’ve to navigate for almost 8-9 hours; for instance, while ascending the Larkya La Pass with slippery trails, thus a basic level of fitness level is required. As this trek goes all the way through remote terrains with limited infrastructure, someone who has never been away from city life might find it challenging to adjust. The first section of the trail is quite easy to commence with, the strenuous section comes after crossing Sama Gaon as we’ll cross over 3500 meters till then.

Nonetheless, if you are quite worried about the hazards that might occur En Route, then do not worry! Our 15-day itinerary of Manaslu Circuit is well-customized especially guided by the pro expert team. The maximum altitude that we’ll ascend each day is 400-500 meters making sure that you are slowly adopting the rising altitude without rushing out things that might lead to altitude sickness.

Therefore, with proper preparation, guidance, a planned itinerary, gear, and choosing the best seasons this journey can easily succeed no matter, whether you are a pro or a beginner hiker.

How to be prepared for the Manaslu Trek?

Before embarking on any mountainous trek, that leads you far away from quick access to modern amenities or isolated areas, there are certain things to consider, and make sure that you are prepared enough to begin the adventure. Just like that, for the Manaslu Round Trekking, there are some preparations that you must do, and is highly recommended. However, it doesn’t mean going over the top for the preps and plannings but YES! Keeping these things in mind will surely make your trip much easier.

Physical Fitness

Heading to the Himalayas means ascending each day bypassing several routes like forested trails, narrow gorges, diverse landscapes, and sometimes, unfortunate weather occurrences. To make sure, that you can easily let go of these things without hassle, make sure that you are physically fit, and strengthen the core level.

It’s not like going all the way having proteins and building muscles, you can just engage in some sort of exercise like a short hike, cycling, swimming, yoga practices, or even walking by staircase ups and downs, if that sounds too much then complete 10,000 steps each day to level up the stamina for the Manaslu Trekking.

Mental Clarity

While many hikers, simply consider being strong enough to complete this trek to Manaslu Circuit, they tend to neglect how their state of mind is working. To make it clear, please remember that Manaslu Round Trekking is a tea house journey, which is so basic and simple far away from the modern lifestyle. Someone who has never been on any trek before might find it a shock how limited amenities and challenging terrains this trail has.

So, before starting the trek prepare a good mindset “enthusiasm”, of how treks are supposed to be. Create a positive, perseverance, and patience level before hand, keeping this in mind the trek will be 99% easier. Meanwhile, many of you will love the authenticity of this odyssey as this trip is all about exploring the Himalayas.

Medical Consideration

It is kindly suggested that you do a full body checkup 1 month before if you have any long-term health problems. As we've already mentioned the Manaslu region has limited facilities, the immediate access to health care isn't easy and quick until and unless it's a helicopter evacuation. Just do a body checkup take some precautions (if you have any health problems) with the medical experts and carry your medicines beforehand. Other than that, no need to panic! as our trekking guides are medically equipped for minor emergencies which are quite rare.

What is the best time for trekking Manaslu?

For the Manaslu Trek in Nepal, the ideal times are April and Spring offering perfect weather and a mild temperature to undertake the hike. Due to the clear climate, the expedition rewards us with the best-unhindered views of the Himalayan peaks dominating the sky ensuring the route is well-maintained which becomes easy and safe to walk along because of less or zero precipitation.

Meanwhile, if you are an experienced hiker, looking forward to some challenges then you can opt for Round Manaslu Trek in winter and monsoon (off-seasons). Every season has its uniqueness and perks to cater to everyone's preference, here are detailed overviews of what each span of the year this trek in the Manaslu region has to offer.

What to expect in Spring (March-May)?

  • The trail is beautifully adorned with vibrant colors of blooming rhododendrons, pines, and orchids making the route insanely beautiful to proceed.
  • As this season, falls right after the winter, the temperature ranges from 5 to 15 degrees Celsius allowing us to hike on the pathway without being all drained out and sweaty due to high humidity.
  • Due to the less or zero rainfall/snowfall, there is a low chance of fogginess showcasing the best views of mountains.
  • Long duration of day hours-sun golden light, that makes us explore the region even more without worrying about darkness.

Manaslu Round Trekking Solo/Group

A solo trek to the Manaslu circuit is restricted as the government has set rules that you must hike along with someone excluding the registered guide and porter, which means you must have a travel partner to trek with. Travel Insurance

As we know, trekking to the mountain areas isn't a piece of cake, especially when we are planning to do the odyssey at such an isolated place where immediate medical access isn't available. Even though you are a pro hiker or just a beginner we highly recommend you to do the travel insurance beforehand. We are not saying the Manaslu Circuit Trekking is dangerous, but we just want you to be assured and ready for any unfortunate situation.

Just make sure that your travel insurance policy covers immediate helicopter evacuation, medical emergency, theft, luggage loss, and trip cancellation to help cover every risky situation. With these, you also can trail along enjoyably with a free mind, and also if possible try to do the insurance policy from your own home country (would be easy for you).
